The first trimester

Two posts in one day....crazy, huh?
But technically, I wrote that other post over a month ago. I just didn't want to put it out there before we were through our first trimester.

Here are some of the unique things I've experienced during this pregnancy.

  • Finding out we are having twins was pretty crazy. I still find myself thinking, "I can't believe we're having twins!"
  • We were terrible secret keepers. We told EVERYONE that we were pregnant. Even though I was only 6 weeks along.
  • I was nauseous all day every day during the first trimester, but NEVER threw up. I found that if I kept my stomach full with snacks, then the nausea wasn't so bad. At 13.5 weeks, the nausea is easing up except for a little bit in the morning and late at night.
  • I've had the craziest dreams. I wish I had been better about writing them all down, but here are a couple:
    • I was at the Zoo, and a lion got out of its exhibit. It began stalking me and roaring at me. I was sitting in a chair in the middle of a field, surrounded by monkey exhibits, and the lion came up to me and crawled in my lap, much like Rocky does. Then it (very violently) mauled a zebra.
    • Brian and I were at the doctor's office, and we told the sonographer that we wanted her to write down the babies' genders and seal them in an envelope. The woman looked at the woman behind her and asked, "How do you spell 'daughter?'" Then Brian and I got so excited, saying, "We're having a girl?!" And the sonographer asked, "How did you know?" :) So we decided to go ahead and find out the sex of the other baby. It was a boy with rather large boy parts.
  • People's reaction to the fact we're having twins has been so much fun. I'll start off saying, "I'm pregnant!" to which most people say, "Oh, congrats!" and then I say, "WITH TWINS!" and people go crazy. We've had everything from "Congratulations!" to "Good luck..."
  • People are so excited about getting to hold the babies. We've already had so many offers for babysitting! We are very blessed to have such a great support system here.
  • My mom is going wild with buying fun stuff for her grandbabies!
  • My boss and co-worker have been incredibly supportive.
  • I got really big in my 11th week. I'm already showing as much as a woman with a single baby would at 5 months. I've started buying some maternity clothes, but luckily, a lot of my stuff still fits.
  • I have craved guacamole, chips and dip, and sour candy. After the surgery, I stopped drinking Coke every day, so Sprite has become my new drink of choice. I eat a lot of yogurt, cheese tortillas, fruit and granola bars and drinking tons of water.
  • I am planning our gender reveal party.
  • We saw the maternal fetal specialist on June 3 for the first time. Brian and I went to Kingwood for the ultrasound and genetic testing. They gave us a TON of photos! I will go to the doctor every two weeks, alternating Dr. Moyers and the specialist.
  • Brian and I talk about the twins all the time. We can't wait to meet them.
